Bernard Cairns was admitted to Dr Kershaw’s Inpatient Unit in January 2023 after becoming seriously unwell just four months earlier. He was able to spend his last days in a peaceful, supportive environment with his family by his side, something his daughters will be forever grateful for.
When Ted Weigh was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, his daughter Helen and wife Elizabeth focused on making the most of every moment together. When Eve was nearing the end of her life, her husband, Colin, didn’t know how he was going to cope alone. With no close family around them, all he wanted was for Eve to be comfortable, cared for, and treated with dignity. With support from Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, that’s exactly what happened — with the couple receiving comfort and compassion when it was needed most.
