We offer a free furniture collection service in Oldham, Saddleworth and Greater Manchester. The Furniture Hub helps good-quality furniture to find a new home while supporting Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. We accept sofas, dining tables and chairs, coffee tables, beds and more! Read our guide to see if we can accept your items.
Is your donation saleable?
All of the funds raised from your donated furniture goes towards looking after our patients. To cover the cost of collection, we are unable to accept damaged items.
This could include:
- Large scratches and chipped paint
- Stains
- Missing legs, screws, shelves, handles or hinges
- Colour fade and discolouration
- Loose joints
- Water damage
- Missing fire labels
- Strong odour (e.g. smoke, pets)
Are your fire labels attached?
By law, all upholstered furniture must include the original fire safety labels. These show that the items have passed the relevant fire safety checks.
Fire labels can be found underneath sofas and chairs, inside cushion covers, and on mattresses and bed bases. On a recliner chair, they may be under the footrest.
All donations are subject to final checks on the day by our collection team, and our van crew is unable to accept items that cannot be sold.
To make sure your item is suitable, fill in our furniture donation form or call us on 0161 510 0102.

The Furniture Hub accepts a wide range of furniture donations. This includes beds, sofas, mattresses, drawers, wardrobes and dining sets.
Depending on the quality and quantity of items, we can consider postcodes within Greater Manchester. We have to justify the distances we travel so that as much money as possible goes on patient care.
In general, we mainly consider OL, SK and M (Oldham, Stockport, Tameside and Manchester) postcodes. We particularly welcome items from surrounding areas like Uppermill, Saddleworth and Dobcross.
Once we have received your details and information about your items, our team will contact you by phone or email to arrange a convenient date. On the day, we will telephone you with an estimated time (AM or PM).
Yes, you can drop off your furniture directly at The Furniture Hub on Shaw Road in Oldham. We have a free large car park, and our friendly team will help to unload your items.
Due to needing to keep our costs low, we do not currently offer house clearances.
We are only able to collect items that are not damaged and include the relevant fire labels. This is because it costs our Hospice money to collect or dispose of unsuitable items.
Our team will do a final inspection on the day to make sure we are able to collect your furniture items. If they do not pass our checks, we will unfortunately not be able to accept your donation.
