Course Details

The Mayfly Advance Care Planning Programme provides an opportunity to explore how to find out the patient’s views, preferences and wishes regarding their future care and to feel confident and competent to assist in documentation.

Who is This Course for?

All healthcare professionals and staff caring for those with a life-limiting illness.

What Will the Course Cover?

  • Think About It – understanding Advance Care Planning, what it is and what it isn’t, Mental Capacity and ‘Best Interests’ Decisions
  • Talk About It – opening and maintaining a conversation about future wants and preferences
  • Record It – what elements of Advance Care Planning are there, how to document wishes, preferences and refusal of treatment
  • Share It – how to ensure that relevant information is shared, cross boundary information sharing, how to take this back into practice
