Leaving a gift in your Will is a wonderful way to help continue the vital work that Dr Kershaw’s does for people in our community.
A small gift in your Will can have a big impact on the future of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. We understand that your family and friends come first, but even leaving 1% of your estate (you are able to leave whatever percentage you like to the Hospice) to us can help ensure we continue to provide exceptional care and support to our community for years to come. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a lasting difference.
When making your Will, please consider including Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. With just our charity name and registered number, it’s quick and easy to leave a lasting legacy that supports our vital work.

Tax benefits to leaving a gift in your Will
Including the Hospice in your Will can provide significant tax benefits. Inheritance Tax applies if a person’s estate (property, money, and possessions) is worth more than £325,000 at the time of their death. This is known as the ‘Inheritance Tax threshold.’ The standard Inheritance Tax rate is 40% on anything above this threshold.
A gift to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice would be completely exempt from Inheritance Tax. Additionally, leaving 10% or more of the net value of an estate to charity can reduce the tax rate payable on the remainder of the estate from 40% to 36%.
If you believe your estate may be subject to Inheritance Tax and wish to reduce its impact, it’s advisable to consult a solicitor, accountant, or independent financial adviser, you can also visit the government’s website on Inheritance Tax .
