Celebrating 400 volunteers milestone!

We recently welcomed our 400th volunteer, and we couldn’t be more grateful to the Oldham community for making this possible.

As we are only one-third funded by the NHS, we rely heavily on volunteers to continue our work within the community. Volunteers work across our charity, including in our shops, in Café K, at events and in the gardens.

In November, we introduced Paul Shea to our Furniture Hub and surprised him on his first day with a celebratory cake. As a member of our Wellbeing Centre Men’s Group, Paul is well aware of what we do at the Hospice.

He told us: “The care at Dr Kershaw’s is second to none, so I’m really pleased to be joining the team.”

Leanne Gurney, Volunteer Coordinator, said: “We are incredibly excited to share this milestone with you, and celebrate how wonderfully generous the people of Oldham are with their time. We could not run without volunteers and we are beyond grateful for the time each person gives to support us, our patients, and their families.”

The care at Dr Kershaw’s is second to none, so I’m really pleased to be joining the team.
